Recycling Heroes Education

Once the waste assessment has been conducted and you’ve received your report, our ‘Recycling Heroes’ will visit your school to educate students about various waste-reduction topics and how they can take up the mission of becoming a Recycling Hero. Education visits will be occurring during terms two, three and four this year.

1st year of program:           Recycling

  • Recycling Basics – What can and can’t be recycled
  • Why recycle? The importance of recycling
  • Sort it! Clean it! Crush it! What to do with recycling before placing it in the yellow lid bin
  • Other recyclable items- What can be recycled but not in the yellow lid bin
  • The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) - Where does your recycling go?

2nd year of program:            Organics: Composting & worm farming

3rd year of program:            Everyday waste avoidance, including ‘Nude Food’ (waste-free lunches)
