Students Honoured as Recycling Facility Turns One!

by Michelle Roberts on 4th November 2011

The CQ Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is celebrating its first birthday on Saturday 12th November, just in time for National Recycling Week.

Like any birthday celebration, there will be a party, the MRF Open Day. The Open Day will be a celebration to remember for a number of students, as the CQLGA Community Calendar, featuring student artwork, is launched.

Students across Central Queensland worked extremely hard last term creating "Super Recycling Posters" for the CQLGA Calendar Competition which will be on display at the Open Day.

So come along and support the great work of our local students while taking the time to enjoy the party. A number of child and family friendly activities will be held including:

  • MRF Tours
  • Making Recycled Paper
  • Sorting Challenge
  • Guess the Cans
  • Recycling Truck Demonstration
  • Kiddie’s Corner
  • Birthday Messages

There will also be live entertainment all day and an opportunity to see the CQ MRF in operation. Schools are encouraged to invite students’ families as the day will be a fun educational day for all.
