Over the life of the next State Parliament, Local Government in Central Queensland seeks the following commitment from all political parties.
- Regional CQ Planning and Infrastructure Framework
CQLGA calls on all parties to support local government’s leadership and community engagement role to develop a Regional Planning and Infrastructure Framework for Central Queensland. - Secure and Affordable Water
CQLGA calls on all parties to make a strong and reliable commitment to secure and affordable water for urban communities in Central Queensland. - Waste Management Funding
CQLGA calls on all parties to make a commitment to funding that support councils to achieve the goals and objectives of the Queensland Waste Reduction and Recycling Strategy. - Sustainable Planning
(Housing Affordability and Infrastructure Charges Reform)
CQLGA calls on all parties to review Sustainable Planning (Housing Affordability and Infrastructure Charges Reform) Amendment Bill 2011, to determine the nature and size of the impact on councils in regional Queensland. - No Further Local Government Structural Reforms
The CQLGA calls on all parties to commit to no further local government structural reforms (including de amalgamation and boundary changes), and a full review of the existing and inadequate fiscal redistribution in regards to taxes obtained from local communities, businesses and industries to ensure fiscal sustainability of local government.
