All of the glass and plastic bottles and containers, paper and cardboard, steel and aluminium that are collected at kerbside and from various recycling drop off points throughout Central Queensland are transported to the CQ MRF.
The lifecycle of the material you sort, clean and crush and put out for recycling is extended at the CQ MRF, where a number of mechanical and manual sorting processes are applied to the mixed recyclable materials.
These steps remove all waste and contaminated materials, and sort the recyclables into individual material types or categories: paper and cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminium and steel. Then recyclables are sorted into material types and baled for sale. Be sure to book your tour of the CQ MRF, but hurry! Limited spots available.
Before touring the MRF, please make sure you are wearing enclosed shoes, and clothes suitable for climbing stairs.
